Ballinamore Festival 2009 and Schoolhouse Allsorts

Here we have a pot pouri of pics taken during the week when Pam and I were down at the Old Schoolhouse, Aughawillan for the Ballinamore Festival last week.

 

 

 

 

 

Two sweet old nests that Ed found when he was chopping logs from the fallen trees in the garden. Gotta love nests especially the real thing. We are always finding treasures in the garden of the schoolhouse. We found a collection of YR sauce bottles that the children used to bring to school filled with milk.

We had a great time at the festival down in Ballinamore with Pam and Zinda and Paul. We had a pub crawl on Wed. night as there was entertainment on all over the town....Jazz and Swing, Country and Western, Dj's, Karaoke, Rock, and more.....

Scottie begs nicely for a cup of tea! These two adorn the right hand side of my halldoor inthe Schoolhouse.

The Webmaster.....On my windowsill is this little man in need of a good dusting!

An old milk churn makes a good garden ornament especially with a doty plant on top.

 

 

 

On the left hand side of my hall door are these two lovelies.

 

 

 

Now what do you think this is??

Well - it is part of a frame from an old school desk that Ed dug up when he was gardening in the girls side of the dividing wall in the garden.(Boys and girls were separated for classes) Just one of the school related things we have unearthed since we have been here.

Here is the rest of the girls' yard now growing apple trees and fairy toadstools!

 See the trees at the end of the garden? Well, one day when I was having a leisurely breakfast a knock came to the door. I opened it and a bunch of old ladies walked in!

"We planted the trees at the end of the garden during the thirties and we are having a reunion"

Well, they were already in ....and weren't looking like they were going to leave......so what could I do?

I let them wander all over and enjoyed their stories about the various rooms and the memories they brought up for them.

Yes, we actually found a red mushroom with white circles. ...  I meant to add a fairy figure and take a pic...when...batteries died. Oh well, another missed photo op.

Two out of three aint bad.

Well first of all, Mam escaped from the rest home she was in !! She was supposed to stay for four weeks! ....[not my mam]

 "Sure I'm grand and I would be much better at home" says she, after only six days there. So she packed up her bits and pieces and with a wave and a hug for the ladies still in there, she was gone!! Her last words were " They paid the ransom" She is home and doing well,

Then we have Flynner - he got out on Thurs and is doin ok [we have to keep an eye on him], mind him and love him, thats not hard to do, I would stand on me head and spin for that man !! Love you Flynner. 

 And last, but not least, we have the lovely Granny Daisy (MIL) she is still in hospital, but knowing Granny Daisy she will be home soon, Thats all for now from me Angie lee xx

Finding the Fun in Less Than Funny Situations

As you know from my sister Pam's Blog:  White O'Morn Cottage her husband, Paul, is in hospital and so is our mother. Same hospital which makes it handy for visiting both of them. Well, I have to tell the story of how Pam and I were visiting them the other day and we got a good laugh out of both their situations. I am one who always looks to bring a smile or laugh to any situation and why not? Laughter is good medicine....so...

...Paul has low calcium levels after his op. which have the symptoms of tingling in the lips. While we were visiting a nurse came round and asked him "Do you have any tingling in your lips?"......I bit my tongue but could not resist piping up with  "Only when Pam kisses him!"

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next we went to see Mam two floors up. Her doctor came round asking questions and such and finished up by saying " I'll get the geriatric doctor to pop in and see you" ...to which Mam answered ...

" The geriatric doctor? I hope he is not doddery - could you not send  me a young one?"

What can I say...I learned it from the master! Haha!

The Gathering Room - Big Celebration Coming Up! Ya'll Invited!

Our living room has become known as The Gathering Room. it is a fabulous place to socialise and entertain friends and houseguests. It's got a huge open fire that we get blazing, lots of scented candles, wine, soft lighting, nibbles, oodles of interesting curios to browse, home made music (by the lads -who are all musicians) Lots of squishy comfy sofas and armchairs. Somehow it has a lovely atmosphere for a social setting.

Long time no see !!

Well hello there , I have been on the missing list for a while, the sun was shinning and i was working and had a few holidays, I just got back from Carrick on shannon we went on a boat trip, the weather was fab and i did a bit of fishing caught five on my first attempt!! Ok so they were only small maybe six inches long [ no laughing please] but the craic was great we had the guitars and before long we had a grand singsong goin , hope to go back down next weekend and do it all again!! found a great car boot sale and got some treasure, havent told Pam about that place yet , but i know when i do i will have some BIG compition [ she once jumped out of a moving car [mine] to get treasure before me haha this is true! Anyway i will try to be better at blogging and not go missing so much bye for now Angie xx

Im off, [me brain is melted]!!!

Whew, i now feel i can breath again, we had an awful scare with Paul [me darlin brother in law] and to be honest i just could not even think about blogging , But as he is going to be ok thank God, im back ....... well im not!!!!, im off to Madeira for a week , I want to feel the sun on me bones let the hair down and have a bit of craic , we fly out tommrow yyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeee hhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Then we are back one week and im off to Poland for a weekend with the girls two of my very good friends Zinda and Martina. God love poor Poland!!!!! any way i will take lots of photos and put them up when i get back  best wishes Angie x

Craft Night With the Girls, Vino Calapso and Books About Men....

Well at last I am getting around to posting the pics of us "Girls" (I use the term loosely) on our craft night. Between us we do a variety of crafts so we decided to get together with our own favourites and gave demos, tips and ideas to each other. Finger food and a bottle of Vino Calapso and off we go!

Zinda and Teeda made jewellery. Pam made a crochet rug, Mam made cards, Catherine made a patchwork and I made sure they didn't slack at their work (or go hungry or thirsty)

A fabulous night and we are planning on doing it again soon.

Andrew is over the worst .

First i want to thank you all for your kind words , Andrew is over the operation and although looking pale and weak [a first for him ] he seems to be alot better ,he will be comming home tommrow evening , he is just so releaved its over and cant wait to get back to normal, he has lost a lot of weight and really needs building up , that wont be a prob Mama bear is on the case!!!!!, I will be cooking up a storm, [ and more than likely driving him up the wall] he says i worry too much , easy to say when your not the mammy!!!! And to cap it all i have my mammy and eds mammy telling me what to do ,IRISH MAMMYS YE GOTTA LOVE EM . Anyway thanks again for everything , Angie xx

My number one son is in hospital, and is having an operation on his spine on monday, he is really looking forward to not having pain all the time , and i dont think he is worried [being invinceable and all that] i on the other hand am [worried that is ] anyway its my birthday today and mothers day as well and i have been truly spoiled flowers champers and wrinkle cream [from Jessica daisy] bye for now Angie xx
