I have started to get ready for the big day. The tree is trimmed and all lit up (does anyone else except me run outside to see how it looks to passersby?)
One of my favourite things to decorate is the sitting room mantle. I put a line of ceramic houses to make a village and place fairy lights inside.
Da is holding on and we are beginning to believe he will make Christmas. Thanks to everyone who sent healing good wishes and prayers. Keep 'em up as you are doing something right.
Festive Mantles Galore!
There is nothing I love more than decorating a pretty mantlepeice for Christmas.
Lucky me - I have four in all to play with! Two in the cottage and two at home.
Here is my cottage mantle and stove in the living room all decked out for the holidays
and this is my dining room in Dublin, the one with the open fire and the one we all gather around for a chat and a laugh during the festive season.
Next (better pics to follow) is the living room mantle, tho one that I put a little village all lit up... each of these houses mean so much to me...from the ones my little boys gave me way back when and the one given to me by my mother, one painted by my sis Teeda and the rest from dear friends over the years...oHH! that reminds me! I have a beautiful one down in Leitrim from Kimme. I am going to bring it up here to finish off Christmas Lane. It is German made and very detailed and takes a tealight inside or insensce...I love it.
...and last mantle will be the cottage kitchen open fire. Now, this could be a problem, as I don't actually have a mantle fitted here -yet.. but I will think of something for it. Watch this space. This room is still not really usable as we have come to a standstill on the flagstone floor due to Da being so ill and Christmas flying in so fast. So the following pic is of it before I give it any festive touches. More to follow...
The Kitchen door in cottage
Someone on Jumbletown gave me 100 blank music sheets for crafting and so far I have made envenlopes, origami stars, gift tags, book marks and wrapping paper
Ohhh, lots more to do. I am going on your blogs to get some more inspiration!
Here is the link to a Youtube Christmas scenes with music to get you in the mood.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua5X0A2f3SI&feature=related See you soon...Pam
