More dog walking..this time in Leitrim. Paul set off ahead of me up the winding road that weaves its way up the mountain called Slieve An Iarran *translates as the Iron Mountains. Our cottage is in the foothills just to the right off this boreen which is English for bothereen which IN English means small road. Does that make any sense? Yes? No?..good...we'll carry on so.
The narrow road winds and winds......The sun was catching the fields giving them a lovely golden hue...Fields of Gold.
The late evening sun casts long shadows
They walked up the mountain and marched back down again.
I was hanging back picking wild flowers (as you do) for some photo vignettes that Teeda said I should do for the front page of the new website.
When I looked over the ditch to my left.......WHAT!!!! ...I couldn't believe my eyes! I was nearly blinded by the sparkle of.......Diamonds! .... A whole field of wild irish diamonds...who knew?
...Of course the moment didn't last long because I realised ...they hadn't grown there...they had rained down and were clinging to the blades of long grass. It was raining diamonds in the fields of gold in the Iron Mountains. Alas my "diamonds" were only raindrops clinging to the blades of long grass. Ah well, maybe I'll find my Pot o' gold...I'll go hunting today and keep you posted.
What a wonderful walk you had, with the wee furry creatures tagging along...oh how I love the terriers, what hardy stock they are and never a dull moment...are yours good mousers?
I missed something though, what are Irish diamonds...explain please. Your countryside is magical, I can almost hear the pipes a playin...OK, so I am hopelessly romantic...

Were the Irish Diamonds the raindrops clinging to the blades of grass? Or did you find the end of the rainbow? I LOVE LOVE LOVE the photos! Into my album they go...beautiful...just beautiful..and I am thankful for the Irish translations, too

What a beautiful walk around your home. Love the diamonds in the grass. Did you bring any home with you? Isn't the countryside gorgeous at this time of year? Another month and it starts to dry up but this month it is at its most beautiful. At least in my opinion anyway.
Thank you for sharing your photos

My, how beautiful! You know, I'm orginally from So. CA but been living in NW Alabama these past 3 years (my husb is from here). It's quite lovely here, though. I have to say that the scenery there, where you took your walk, looks SO much like areas of Central California -- the rolling hills, the clouds casting shadows on the hills. Just gorgeous!
